Tinsinix Stories 2026

These are this year’s stories.

Each story shows in a different way why DAR Bjorn, specialised care and the Respite project make a difference to a person and their entire family.

01 · MARIA

Bjorn always had one thing in mind: never to say no to anyone.
He built not one home, but two homes for people with ALS and other neurological conditions.
The next dream is DAR Bjorn Respite — a place for times when a family cannot care for their loved one for a short period.
The condition does not affect only the patient; it affects the whole family.
TINSINIX is a promise that we will not forget them either.

02 · JOSEPH

Joseph was a very active sportsman and FIFA referee, who also refereed abroad.
In 2008, at the age of 52, a neurological condition began gradually taking away his mobility and speech.
Today he cannot walk and can barely speak.
At DAR Bjorn he found 24-hour care, comfort and another family.
For his wife, this also means peace of mind.

03 · DARREN

Darren, from Żejtun, has been living for around 13 years with MS.
He used to love getting up early and going hunting.
His 71-year-old mother takes four buses every day to go and see him.
She knows that if one day she is no longer there, Darren is in a safe place.
Darren says it clearly: “Kieku ma hawnx DAR Bjorn, ma nafx x’kien jiġri minni.”

05 · STEVEN

Steven has ALS, which began with weakness in one hand and continued to progress.
Today he cannot speak with his own voice — but he still has a lot to say.
He communicates through a computer: technology to us, but for him his voice.
His mother fears the future, but she knows DAR Bjorn is there.
We need to learn to listen differently.

06 · VINCE

Vince suffered a stroke and his life changed suddenly.
When he was told he would be going to DAR Bjorn, he cried because he did not know what he would find there.
When he arrived, his words were different: “Sibt ġenna.”
He found people, care and an environment that gave him back a sense of life and security.
